In the summer of 1993, Marvel Comics published a crossover within its X-Men
family of titles, one issue for each series, one or two each month. It wasn’t
a moment-to-moment crossover as other X-Men stories had been, and two or
three of the chapters don’t have much to do with the main story. “Fatal
Attractions,” as it was called, introduced a new partner for arch-villain
Magneto, featured a big showdown between him and Professor Charles Xavier,
and the defection of hero
Collossus. Most important, the story showed Magneto pulling the metal out
of Wolverine’s body. I didn’t get that far in my parody, but out of all
of my “X-Guys” work, I think this one holds up the best in terms of actual
plot and jokes.
