Nick and I had both read Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ “Watchmen” that spring, and used it as an emotional template for issue 2. Unfortunately, we completely dropped out the humor and the robots, and introduced a gaggle of throw-away human characters, much to the dismay of our entire readership. Friend Andrew Franks officially joined the team, penciling the cover and penciling the back-up story from my layouts.
