My buddy Nick Nadel and I convinced our 7th grade English teacher to let us make a comic book instead of the written paper or oral presentation on the parts of speech she had assigned us. We had recently joined a Transformers fan club -- The Transmasters -- and so pitched “Oklahoma Noun” to the club secretary as a comic to sell to club members. She said it wasn’t a good fit, which led us to “TransSpoof.” Oklahoma Noun issue 1 got an “A,” but I never finished drawing issue 2 as I was psyched out by all the hard-to-draw settings Nick had written into it.
