I bought my first comic book in June of 1989 and spent that July at summer camp in North Carolina. I didn’t yet have a specific, permanent urge to draw comics, but I did have enough of an interest to try out my first extended narrative. Drawing and drawing comics are now daily imperatives for me, and it’s difficult to remember when they were was just general interests rather than a specific passion.
